Ballast Deterioration Inspection System
Ballast Checker
Easy and rapid evaluation of ballast soundness through acoustic measurement
Overview
- Based on the principle that sound pressure levels decrease as acoustic waves pass through ballast that has deteriorated and become fine-grained, this system measures the sound pressure of acoustic waves transmitted from a speaker through the ballast and assesses the degree of deterioration.
- 2 hollow driving probes are inserted both sides of a sleeper, with a speaker installed on one side and specialized acoustic measurement equipment on the other.
- Ballast soundness is evaluated based on the relationship between the sound pressure level of acoustic waves transmitted through the ballast and the ballast deterioration index (FI value).
- Easy installation and measurement operations allow on-site confirmation of ballast deterioration status.
- This product is used for track management by JR group companies, private railways of Japan and overseas railway operators.
